iMac 2016 Rumors: October Release Date Confirmed for Apple’s Refresh of Mac Desktops and Laptops?

#iMac #Laptops – iMac 2016 Rumors: October Release Date Confirmed for Apple’s Refresh of Mac Desktops and Laptops? : Apple’s iMac 2016 release date is set in October after the release of much touted iPhone 7 next week. The refresh of its Mac desktop and laptop series is long due and the company is reportedly launching updated products in 2016 itself.

The latest news was confirmed by a Bloomberg report stating the Cupertino tech giant is developing new features for iPad Pro and Mac products though iPad isn’t expected until next year.

The refreshed line of Mac products will include Macbook Pro, Macbook Air and iMac 2016. The report didn’t reveal much other than that Apple is planning to update the iMacs with new graphic chips from AMD. Though details are still unclear, speculations range from high end designs to powerful processors.

Kaby Lake Chipset

The latest rumors suggest that refreshed iMacs will feature latest 7th-gen Intel Kaby Lake processors. There seems to however production problems from Intel as the processor are still unavailable despite reports suggesting Kaby Lake update for Macbook Pro line too. Apparently Apple will ship iMacs with Sky Lake series in case of unavailability of next gen chipsets.

iMac 2015 ports

iMac 2015 ports

Moreover, Mobilenapps speculates iMac 2016 line will offer support for USB 3.1, along with Thunderbolt 3 port and DisplayPort 1.2. There is expectation of addition of new ports to provide a performance boost for the computer.

VR Capabilities

The availability of VR headsets like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive have made gamers demand high end computers to play the virtual content. It is unlikely that in such a volatile environment Apple will stay behind.

Expectations are high that next iMac 2016 release date will bring VR to users. There are rumors that iMac might be updated with high-end AMD Polaris graphic chips. Hopefully, this will provide the power for high resolution gaming and VR games.

Sierra macOS

The new systems are likely going to shipped with the latest Sierra macOS operating system. This will usher in new features like Siri voice assistant for the Mac, support for Apple Pay transactions on the web, deeper iCloud integration for file storage, and an auto-unlock feature for users wearing Apple Watches.

5K Display Monitor

Apple is even said to be working in collaboration with LG to produce new standalone monitors with 5K display capabilities. The 5K panel is currently available in iMac too which boasts over seven times as many pixels as standard 1080p displays.

Instagram now lets you pinch to zoom on photos and videos in iOS

#Instagram #App – Instagram now lets you pinch to zoom on photos and videos in iOS : Instagram just announced an update to its iOS app that will let you pinch to zoom on photos or videos. The new feature will be available across the entire app, according to Instagram – pinch-to-zoom will work on the media that shows up in your standard feed as well as on people’s profiles and in the Explore tab.

Instagram said the new feature will be rolling out to Android “in the coming weeks.” Zooming in on photos and videos in Instagram is a feature that has been requested enough over the years that there is actually a wealth of “how to” posts that point people to the zoom feature in the accessibility menus of Android and iOS.

I grabbed the update from the App Store but the feature still isn’t live in my app. Instagram posted a video announcing the feature that offers a vague idea of what pinch-to-zoom will look like, but PetaPixel apparently already got its hands on a working version here.

It looks like when you pinch photos and videos, a lightbox effect takes place and then they actually come out of the original frame as you zoom. It’s a handy way of peeking at the details, but don’t be surprised if things look a bit gross when you zoom in too far — Instagram still caps uploads at around 1080 pixels wide. Source: theverge

40 of the Best Android Games for Free Download this Month

#App #Android – 40 of the Best Android games for free Download this month : There are hundreds of fantastic games available for Android, and a lot of them are available for absolutely nothing.

To help you find just the sort of thing you’re after, we’ve grouped the games into sections. First up is racing games, then sports, followed by platformers and endless runners, then shooters and strategy and word games, next up is puzzle and match games, and finally arcade games. Phew!

If you can’t find something you like in all that lot you must already be dead.

RACING GAMES

RIDGE RACER SLIPSTREAM

[appbox googleplay com.namcobandaigames.ridgeracerss]

Namco’s racer sits at the midpoint between Asphalt 8’s demented arcade larks and Real Racing’s overly earnest simulation leanings. Like its coin-op ancestors, though, Ridge Racer is still all about barreling along at insane speeds, and having fun — you just have to work at success a bit more than in Asphalt.

Here, driving like a total idiot will likely mean you’ll lose a race. Instead, you should only drive like a part-time maniac, slipstreaming the opposition, drifting through bends, and boosting past rivals. It looks great, sounds suitably meaty, controls really well, and even the IAP’s subdued enough that the game won’t constantly be doing wheelspins on your bank account.

Gang of gas giants may have tilted distant planet system

#Gas #PlanetSystem – Gang of gas giants may have tilted distant planet system : A massive planet in a far-flung system has swivelled the orbits of its smaller neighbours. Planets usually orbit near the plane of their star’s equator. For example, Earth’s orbit is tilted to the sun’s equatorial plane by just 7.2 degrees.

But since 2008, we have seen planets orbiting at huge angles to this plane. Some are even revolving backwards – in effect, their orbits have flipped over.

Multiple planets in one system can be tilted. In 2013, Daniel Huber, now at the University of Sydney in Australia, and his colleagues used the Kepler spacecraft to find two planets whose orbits are aligned with each other but tilted at about 45 degrees to the equatorial plane of their star, Kepler-56.

One of these planets is twice as massive as Uranus, the other twice as massive as Saturn. Meanwhile, ground-based observations indicated that the star’s velocity was changing, suggesting a third object’s gravity was tugging at it.

But these observations spanned only three months, insufficient to determine whether the object was a planet or a star, let alone its mass or orbital period. Still, astronomers suspected it could be responsible for the tilt.

Tug of gravity

Now, after analysing four years of Kepler-56 observations, Justin Otor at Princeton University and his colleagues conclude that the culprit is probably an even more massive unseen planet. With at least 5.6 times Jupiter’s mass, it is tugging on its companions from an orbit much further out.

Where the misaligned planets are closer to their sun than Mercury is to ours, the new planet would be just beyond Mars if part of our solar system. The object orbits every 2.74 years.

Simulations suggest that planet may be a relic of a former trio of outer worlds. “This one’s at the scene of the crime, but we still have the fingerprints of the other two,” says team member Benjamin Montet at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena.

He cites simulations by Pierre Gratia and Daniel Fabrycky at the University of Chicago, which describe how three outer planets could interact gravitationally, tilting the inner duo. During this process, one outer planet gets ejected or collides with another, leaving just two outer planets.

If that’s the case, a fourth planet should be in orbit around Kepler-56. “It could be on a very far-out orbit,” says Gratia, with such a long period that observers have not yet detected it. Source: newscientist

2016 Nexus Marlin, Sailfish Will Be Made By HTC But Will Carry Google Name Brand

#NexusMarlin #NexusSailfish – 2016 Nexus Marlin, Sailfish Will Be Made By HTC But Will Carry Google Name Brand : Today, new rumors came out about the upcoming Google phones from HTC. According to very recent reports, the two highly anticipated phones that are the Sailfish and Marlin might no longer carry Google’s Nexus branding.

Marlin And Sailfish To Not Carry The Nexus Name

It was reported that the rumor about the demise of the Nexus’ name came from people who are “familiar with Google’s plans.” This means that Google’s Nexus series will be discontinued and the Huawei Nexus 6P and the LG Nexus 5X will be the last of the Nexus brand.

Furthermore, it was also reported that even though HTC is manufacturing this year’s phones for Google, the manufacturer’s brand won’t be spotted anywhere on the phones.

Google’s Marlin And Sailfish – What Is Known So Far

Today’s rumors about the upcoming phones from Google may fit with its CEO’s statement last June. Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that the company will have a more active involvement in the phone’s design now more than ever.

It was also mentioned that Marlin and Sailfish will both have additional software tweaks on top of its default system. Since the previous Nexus phones shipped with pure Android systems, this year’s handsets would offer an even more unique smartphone experience for users.

This system alteration would provide users with a new launcher, new button designs, and an improved Google Assistant experience. On top of this, Google is also reported to be working on new smartwatches. It was said that the company will release two new wearables by the end of 2016.

Google’s Marlin And Sailfish, Conclusions

The only thing that is clear so far is that Google will soon release its new smartphones. The release date is rumored to be September or October. What is not yet clear right now is if there will be a new brand name to replace “Nexus” or not. It is also possible that if the previous brand will be ditched, the new phones would just be referred to as Google phones, GSMarena reports.

Nevertheless, the expected launch date for Google’s new phones is just a few weeks away. This typically means that more and more details about the flagship phones will surface on the web day after day. With that, everyone can expect clarifications on the matter as the anticipated announcement day approaches. Source: itechpost

UFO Researchers: 8-Foot Humanoid Aliens From Proxima B Visited Earth In 2012 (Video)

#UFO #ProximaB – UFO Researchers: 8-Foot Humanoid Aliens From Proxima B Visited Earth In 2012 (Video) : The discovery of Proxima b, an Earth-sized exoplanet orbiting in the habitable zone of the Sun’s closest stellar neighbor, the dwarf star Proxima Centauri, has reignited interest in an old conspiracy theory that 8-foot-tall extraterrestrial beings from a planet orbiting Proxima Centauri have been visiting Earth since ancient times.

According to conspiracy theorists, the announcement by astronomers at the European Southern Observatory of the discovery in our stellar neighborhood of an exoplanet potentially capable of supporting life provides evidence backing old conspiracy theory claims that there is a planet orbiting Proxima Centauri that is home to a humanoid species called the Cenos aliens.

The red dwarf star Proxima Centauri, about 4.22 light-years away, is part of the star system Alpha Centauri, consisting of Alpha Centauri A, Alpha Centauri B and Proxima Centauri.

The belief held by some members of the UFO and alien conspiracy theory community that 8-8.5-foot-tall humanoid Cenos aliens from Proxima Centauri have been visiting Earth since ancient times, and that they may still be living among us, originated in the alleged confessions of an alien from the Alpha Centauri star system known simply as “Hands,” CNET reports. Hands revealed himself as an alien entity from the Alpha Centauri star system through a hypnotic subject.

The alleged entity spoke through a woman being examined under hypnosis by a team of California psychologists. The entity claimed that he was an extraterrestrial being from a planet in the Alpha Centauri star system. The details of the entity’s self-description given during interview sessions lasting seven years — beginning form 1957 — were revealed in a book titled Hands: The True Account. A Hypnotic Subject Reports on Outer Space, published in 1976 by California psychologists Margaret Williams and Lee Gladden.

New evidence strengthens the case for ‘Planet 9’ in the outer solar system

Planets are big, but they’re surprisingly hard to spot in the vastness of space. Astronomers are busy cataloging planets in other solar systems — including the one next door that we missed until just recently. In fact, we aren’t 100% sure we’ve found all the planets in our own solar system. In a new study published in The Astronomical Journal, scientists present compelling evidence for the existence of a large planet orbiting at the edge of the solar system.

The solar system used to have nine planets, of course. That hasn’t been true since Pluto was demoted to dwarf planet status a decade ago. What astronomers are talking about now is something that is undeniably a planet (if it exists). This hypothetical “Planet 9” would be several times larger than Earth with enough mass to cause detectable perturbations in the orbits of smaller objects in the outer solar system.

The pieces started to fall into place for astronomers Chadwick Trujillo and Scott Sheppard several years ago when they analyzed the highly elliptical orbits of Sedna and several smaller objects. They all shared orbital characteristics that indicated they might have been influenced by a massive object in the same region of space. At the time, the pair estimated the unseen planet could be anywhere from 2-15 times more massive than Earth. Earlier this year a different team ran computer simulations that support the notion that the unusual clustering of orbits in the outer solar system is due to a 10-Earth mass planet orbiting about 600 AU from the sun (that’s 600 times the distance from the sun to Earth).

Now, Trujillo and Sheppard say they have spotted several dozen more celestial bodies in the outer solar system. Several of these objects offer strong support for the presence of a large planet out there. The best evidence comes from two 125-mile wide planetoids that fall in the “argument of perihelion,” an important orbital parameter for Planet 9 (in red above). In all, there are about 15 objects in this region of space, and several of them have such extreme elliptical orbits that planets like Neptune and Saturn could not have gravitational sway over them.

Sheppard puts the odds of Planet 9 being real at about 80%. With a few more objects that fall in the argument of perihelion and it will be difficult to dismiss the existence of a planet out there. Assuming Planet 9 does exist, will we ever be able to see it? It’s entirely possible that something of that size would be visible from Earth using powerful telescopes, but it will be faint. Planet 9 could be anyplace in a large swath of sky, so tracking it down won’t be easy. If more small objects influenced by Planet 9’s gravity can be found, they might point the way to the solar system’s 9th planet.
