Mercedes-Benz EQ-Class At Risk Of Being Left Out

#Mercedes #MercedesBenzEQ – Mercedes-Benz EQ-Class At Risk Of Being Left Out : Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that they will be launching a number of electric vehicles before 2025 and their first ever product will be called the EQ-Class.

This may sound like great news if you are a fan of Mercedes but the only unfortunate thing about it is that the carmaker is pretty late in the EV scene. Rival makes have already established their EV program with a variety of cars to choose from hence Mercedes is playing catch-up in this department.

Today, Mercedes revealed that they are already feeling the heat of being late and have called upon their developers to hasten the development of the EQ-Class. Mercedes announced that the new goal is to launch the EQ-Class in 2022 rather than 2025.

With the new projected release date, Mercedes won’t find themselves too far behind rival makes and it will give them a big chance to catch up on the sales front. The EQ-Class promises an electric experience where luxury does not compromise driving range. Are you excited?

Mercedes-Benz made a high-tech golf cart inspired by sports cars

#MercedesBenz #GolfCart – Mercedes-Benz made a high-tech golf cart inspired by sports cars : File this one under the list of things to buy when you become stinkin rich. Mercedes-Benz has introduced a high-tech golf cart with the looks of a sports car, three years after it asked fans to submit ideas for a golf cart of the future.

Now, dont get too excited: it doesnt have autonomous driving capabilities just yet. But the final product, designed by the automaker and its project partner (golf cart designer Garia), has a 10.1-inch tablet that displays its current speed and power consumption, as well as the vehicle’s controls.

You can tap on the screen to change driving modes (sport or eco) and to switch the headlights, heater, AC and wipers (among other parts of the cart) on or off.

It also displays your vehicles position on a map of the golf course and gives you access to various programs like weather apps. Besides a tablet, the cart has integrated Hi-Fi Bluetooth speakers and, of course, a fridge.

Mercedes says its planning to add smartphone integration in the future, as well. For now, the companies areshowing off their creation at the British Open and at various events in Denmark, Monaco and Germany in the coming months.

Mercedes AMG GT is an Entry Level Exotic with $20,000 Discount

#MercedesAMGGT #Car – Mercedes AMG GT is an Entry Level Exotic with $20,000 Discount – Mercedes-AMG is rolling out another version of the slick GT sports car to slot into the line along with the GT S and the GT R versions. The good news here is that the new AMG GT is significantly cheaper than the other models, but by no means an affordable car. The AMG GT starts at $112,125 and will go on sale later this summer.

Power comes from the same 4.0L twin-turbo V8 that the GT S uses, but in a lower state of tune. In GT form, the car gives up 47hp and 36 lb-ft of torque to the GT S. It’s still a fast car though with the ability to reach 60mph in 3.9 seconds, a scant 0.2 seconds slower than the GT S. The top speed is 189mph, only 4mph slower.

The car also gives up some of the fancy inside to get a lower price, namely the leather seats. The AMG adaptive exhaust is also missing along with the fancy Burmester audio system, adaptive suspension, and red brake calipers. Some of those missing features might be available as options, but that is unclear right now.

Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabrio is the ultimate V12 droptop

#Mercedes #ultimate – Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabrio is the ultimate V12 droptop – The flagship in Daimler’s considerable and expanding portfolio of convertibles, the S65 is the top version of the new S-Class Cabriolet.

That means a spacious four-seat cabin, a three-layer folding fabric roof, and all the bells and whistles.

But it also means a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine made by hand in Mannheim, Germany, good for 630 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque.

This is the same engine you’ll find in the G65 sport-ute or SL65 roadster – not to mention the S65’s own coupe and sedan variants.

Mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission, it’ll rocket the big cabrio to 62 miles per hour in just 4.1 seconds en route to a top speed of 186 mph.

Pricing has yet to be announced for the North American market, but we wouldn’t expect much change back from a quarter-million dollars.

That means most of us will never see one up close, unless we’re working as valets at the swankiest hotels or restaurants in town.

Mercedes SLC switches letters, loses V8

#Mercedes #SLC – Mercedes SLC switches letters, loses V8 – The Mercedes-Benz SLK is dead, but it’s not without a successor. Feast your eyes on the new SLC, Daimler’s new roadster with a new name. And it’s just made its public debut here at the Detroit Auto Show.

Replacing the diminutive hardtop roadster that virtually pioneered the segment back in 1996, the new SLC ditches the K to more closely align itself with the C-Class – just as the GLC has replaced the previous GLK.

The formula is mostly the same, though: two seats, folding tin top, small footprint.

The baby brother to the evergreen SL, the SLC will be offered globally with a wide array of engine options – most of them with four cylinders, ranging from 1.6 liters to 2.0 and burning either gasoline or diesel.

Here in America, we’ll get two versions: the base SLC300 with its 2.0-liter turbo four packing 241 horsepower, or the flagship SLC43 from Mercedes-AMG with its 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6.

Replacing the previous eight-cylinder SLK55, the SLC43 packs the same engine as the C450 AMG Sport and the SL450, good for 362 hp.

Either way, you’re getting a nine-speed automatic transmission and the same essential form with the wind in your hair when you want it.

It’s just a matter of how much you want to spend and how fast you want to go. There’s plenty more in the way of details to digest in the press release below on Benz’s new challenger to the likes of the Audi TT, Porsche Boxster, and BMW Z4.

But for a closer look at the new drop-top in the metal, scope out the gallery of live images above. Source:autoblog
